Minimum Wage Increase Reminder
A quick reminder to all employers that from 1 October 2013 there will be an increase in the Minimum Wage for employees.
The National Minimum Wage Rate depends on your age and whether you are an apprentice – you must be at least school leaving age to get it.
If you are in the age group category of 21 and over there will be a wage increase of twelve pence (12p) from £6.19 to £6.31.
If you are in the age group category of 18-20 then there will be a wage increase of five pence (5p) from £4.98 to £5.03.
If you are in the age group category of under 18 and you have left school then there will be a wage increase of four pence (4p) from £3.68 to £3.72.
If you are in the apprenticeship scheme then there will be a wage increase of three pence (3p) from £2.65* to £2.68*.
* This rate is for apprentices under 19 or those in their first year. If you’re 19 or over and past your first year you get the rate that applies to your age.
The above comes in to force tomorrow on the 1 October 2013.
